Supporting the British Legion, and the AFS in Leicester

Today I took the K2 and Dennis pump to the Paviors Rugby Club at Burnt Stump to support the local branch of the British Legion. Not a large crowd, but worthwhile to raise the profile.

Meanwhile, a couple of interesting articles from Leicester. The first describes an open day by the Leicester Fire Brigade Museum, in which they show their lovely AFS Bikini Unit for the first time since it returned from Weedon Bec.

The second is an account of the work if the post-war AFS from the experience of a former member of the AFS. (although I think the reporter has things mixed up – the Green Goddess could pump 900 gallons per minute, not carry 900 gallons!)

About lowdhamstation

I am a director of a small (and very technical) business, a committed Christian, a Reader (and preacher) in my local village church, husband to my dear Frances, am interested in heritage railways, and heritage fire engines. I currently run a group that displays wartime and early post-war fire engines at 1940s re-enacting events and steam engine rallies. O yes, and vintage cars and motorbikes, and we live in a Victorian railway station.
