K4 cab side now has new logo

Lovely sign-writing by Alison Milton

This excellent sign-writing was recently done by our good friend Alison Milton, of www.alisonandhughshandmadethings.co.uk

‘8’ refers to Fire Force 8, which was Nottinghamshire.

‘D’ is for the City Centre District.

TL1 means that it is Turntable Ladder No 1 in the district.

Fire extinguisher with new leather strap

Alison also made a leather strap using the original quick-release buckle. We have used it to restrain the new copper fire extinguisher. OK, so it’s a 1950’s pattern piece, but it looks just like the wartime ones.

About lowdhamstation

I am a director of a small (and very technical) business, a committed Christian, a Reader (and preacher) in my local village church, husband to my dear Frances, am interested in heritage railways, and heritage fire engines. I currently run a group that displays wartime and early post-war fire engines at 1940s re-enacting events and steam engine rallies. O yes, and vintage cars and motorbikes, and we live in a Victorian railway station.
