The Derby City Fire Brigade doing a show for the chiefs in 1962. Note the elf&safety as the Bikini unit on wheels slams into the wall!
Here is a drill competition with some hose running, Then someone tries to connect a delivery hose with full pressure on. And a Goddess arrives with all the silverware, before a fireman is dropped into a water trough!
A lovely video from 1962, with sound, showing a large public display by the Gloucestershire Fire Brigade.
This is a rather longer (8 minutes) wartime film of a training session at the Lockheed factory by the Works Brigade. Although it starts slowly, it eventually shows TL drill, Hook Ladder drill, Escape drill, rescuing a ‘Dead Fred’, BA use, tackling incendiaries, tackling an oil fire, and much more. It may give us some ideas for our own display next summer.
Here is another wartime film. The first two minutes show suction from an appliance, and suction from a portable pump from the river. Then a light trailer pump is taken down the lane. Looks like an early Coventry Climax.
This is from the late 50s, and shows many scenes of night life in Nottingham. 2min35sec into the film, there is a lovely shot of a turnout from Central Fire Station. There is Post Office sorting, trains, trolley busses in the old tram sheds, Police on the beat, newspaper typesetting.
