Woodhall Spa this weekend 3-4 Aug

This is going to be our biggest event yet. It will be the first and possibly only event with all three WW2 appliances out. It will be the maiden trip for our new NFS mobile canteen.

A major event at Woodhall Spa this weekend will be the air raid on the Golf Hotel at 2:30pm both days. We are expecting 3 or 4 fire engines, a trailer pump and an NFS mobile canteen to be present (provided the paint is dry on the canteen!) There will be smoke, bangs and a lot of noise. For full details see the ‘Woodhall Spa’ page under ‘Events 2013’.

Lots of re-enactors have already expressed interest in taking part. If you are portray civil defence, (ARP, Police, Medic, Home Guard, ambulance service etc) and would like to be ACTIVELY involved, and our casualties, it is ESSENTIAL that you make contact with the National Fire Service at the Golf Hotel preferably on Friday afternoon (we should be there 2-is to 7-ish) or Saturday morning before noon. You will need to be in place by 2pm each day

There are a lot of others who are portraying guests at the hotel and you need to get your names onto the ARP’s list so your name gets called out in the role call. You need to make contact by 1pm on Saturday at the Golf, and be in position by 2:15.

This should be an exciting and fun event to take part in, but please remember to keep safe. We only want the blood to be fake, not real! So please do what you are asked. Don’t get too close to the firefighting equipment. Don’t trip over anything. Don’t take any risks. But above all, enjoy the event.

About lowdhamstation

I am a director of a small (and very technical) business, a committed Christian, a Reader (and preacher) in my local village church, husband to my dear Frances, am interested in heritage railways, and heritage fire engines. I currently run a group that displays wartime and early post-war fire engines at 1940s re-enacting events and steam engine rallies. O yes, and vintage cars and motorbikes, and we live in a Victorian railway station.
