Nice photos of Rufford last year

I have just found these:

Incendiary lands and ARP injured. (5 photos)

ARP warden injured, and firemen arrive. (20 photos)

These are photos of our arena scenario, where we had smoke from an ‘incendiary bomb’, which subsequently exploded, injuring an ARP warden. So in came the ambulance, followed by the fire engines, to put out the ‘fire’ in the imaginary 4-story building in the background. Yes, I know it’s a bit contrived, but how better can we demonstrate our equipment in the middle of a green field?

Getting the ladder to work. (9 photos)

About lowdhamstation

I am a director of a small (and very technical) business, a committed Christian, a Reader (and preacher) in my local village church, husband to my dear Frances, am interested in heritage railways, and heritage fire engines. I currently run a group that displays wartime and early post-war fire engines at 1940s re-enacting events and steam engine rallies. O yes, and vintage cars and motorbikes, and we live in a Victorian railway station.
