Events in the next few weeks

The next few weeks is a busy time for wartime re-enacting locally. This coming Bank Holiday weekend (27th-29th Aug) we will be at the Rauceby War Weekend.

We are planning to take three vehicles: the K2 and Dennis trailer, the Fordson Escape Carrier, and the K4 TL to Rauceby.

We have been promised access to water and a pitch near the hedge, so we can squirt water over the hedge into the adjacent field. There is evening entertainment as well.

See www.raucebywarweekend.co.uk for details of the event. Rauceby is just this side of Sleaford, and is about 30 miles from Lowdham, or 35 from Nottingham.

The Victory Show is near Leicester on the weekend of 3rd and 4th September. See www.thevictoryshow.co.uk for details. We have access to a small lake which we can pump water from. We can do displays by the lakeside whenever we want, and also have agreement in principle to do a larger display as the battle re-enactment finishes, damping down any smoldering pyros. Could do this from the top of the TL! (show-off).

I need to apply for passes by this weekend, so they can be in the post on Tuesday, so please let me know if you are available and interested. Depending on volunteers, we could take all three vehicles, or just two. We would probably drive the vehicles down on Friday evening, and return in a modern vehicle.

The next weekend (10th/11th Sept) is the Home Front weekend at Rufford Abbey, about 15 miles North of Nottingham, near Ollerton. It is organised by Howard Giles, of EventPlan, who always puts on a good show.

We are booked in there, and usually have a good display. Howard, has invited us to run a display involving a ladder at the front of the old abbey building. The Escape off the Fordson could be ideal for this. There is a free 1940s entertainment for re-enactors only on the Saturday evening. Again, please let me know if you are able to come.

The ‘Subscribe‘ button is now much more prominent at the Right Hand Side of new posts, so if you are interested in what we are doing, please subscribe. Also, please subscribe if you are an NFS/AFS re-enactor, a it will make it easier for me to get information to you.

About lowdhamstation

I am a director of a small (and very technical) business, a committed Christian, a Reader (and preacher) in my local village church, husband to my dear Frances, am interested in heritage railways, and heritage fire engines. I currently run a group that displays wartime and early post-war fire engines at 1940s re-enacting events and steam engine rallies. O yes, and vintage cars and motorbikes, and we live in a Victorian railway station.
